The Ministry of Finance and Treasury is responsible for the overall financial management of the Government.  It does this through managing the budget process, financial systems, collecting revenue and making payment on behalf of Government and through the maintenance of financial policies and procedures, including the Financial Instructions.

The Ministry issues a number of financial reports outlining the status of Government finances. These reports are required by the Public Finance and Audit Act and for transparency and accountability purposes. Financial reports on the management of the Government’s finances ensure the accountability of Government to the people of the Solomon Islands.

The Financial Statements of the Government provide a record of the government's financial performance. The Financial Statements provide a comparison with the budget forecasts and with the financial statements of the previous year.
